Anyone know for sure? Some say its semi some not.
The reason I ask is that I have oil changes at Rapid Fit between services and they use Castrol Semi Magnatec 5/30. Then at the dealer they use Ford (assume so) branded oil. Prolly same stuff but unsure.
Cheers all.

The Ford Motorcraft stuff is definately semi-synth as that is what I think is specified in the service schedule.

Defo semi-synth, we use it in 5l cans for all Zetec Ford engines.

It's not made by Castrol;it's Texaco. But there is no requirement on dealers to use Ford oil-the only requirement is that the oil used must meet Ford specification.
|
And don't forget that what is used in the workshop will most likely come out of a 210 ltre drum rather than a 5 litre can.

More like a 1500 ltr bulk tank!

Yo Jimbo,
Definately 5w/30 semi synthetic, Ford formula E is the correct oil which is also semi synthectic.

A big thanks to all those that replied. The info has been of great help.
I asked because of the local Rapid Fit using Castrol and did'nt know if it would mix with whatever the main dealer uses. Anyway, I won't lose any sleep over it!
Cheers again.
