Dent Devils - Plantman
Hi,

Ive got a couple of really small dents that I'd like to sort and was wondering whether these sort of companies are any good.

Sounds like it's a really good solution but would like some advice from peeps who have used dent devils etc before.

If not, is there an easy way for me to pop the dents out myself?

They are on the front wing and boot and are about 3 cms in length.

Thanks guys

Chris

I had some small "dings" removed from the doors of my ZX. They did an excellent job for the money ( about £50). Provided you are not fastidious, they are perfectly satisfactory and excellent value compared to a visit to the body shop.

some jealous little wotsit gave an ex's impreza a good kicking a week after he got it, there was one big dent in the passanger door, i believe he used dent master, and the dent completly disappeared.

I also have had dents removed by the same company, the job was always very good, i would certainly recommend them.

The outcome by the way depends on where the dent is on the car, i think they use a rod with a tiny ball on the end and poke it down the back of the door and roll it out, if the dent is in a funny place they might not reach so easily.

These people are alright up to a point, but you have to watch them.
A colleague had them take a small dent out of one of the rear doors on his nearly new Sharan. Unfortunately, in so doing, one of their 'manipulating rods' badly scratched the window glass. Of course they denied they'd done it, but it looked a right mess.

I've replaced a few glasses that have been broken by these chaps.
But to be fair they all payed up on behalf of the customer.

I remember one chap was very embarrased that he had broken a glass.

Hi,

I've just had a couple of dents repaired by Dent Devils and I would recommend them to anyone. They took a golf ball sized dent out of my door and removed a nasty dent on the swage line for a total of £75. I've used a couple of other companies in the past but IMHO Dent Devils are far superior.

Thanks for updating the recommendations.

My cars littered with tiny little 'dings' all along the coach line, typical accumulation of 13 years car park rash. I had thought of getting a company out to fettle them. Looks like I might try Dent Devils.

How do they price the repair? If its per panel, it could work out expensive for me.

Not worth it, unless the car has sentimental value.
Dent Devils - Roberson
Not necessarily sentimental, but I'm not planning of getting rid of it....ever.

Why get rid of them - adds character - anyway, you just know that the minute you've got it fettled, polished etc. some idiot will scrape down one/both side(s) with a coin/trolley/white van and ruin it all.

Sadly, how true does that sound!

A woman in a 306 did a good effort in trying to ruin it all not so long ago. Went through a solicitor to make sure it wasn't written off, and had thing repaired instead.

I've had two repairs done, one satisfactory and the other perfect.

The satisfactory one concerned a dent on the upper OSR panel of my Golf, which must have been caused by a truck door being opened on it. I didn't actually speak to the guy who did it, but my then partner said he had warned her that it was a particularly tricky job and that the result might not be perfect, which is fair enough, and you have to look really hard to detect the residual flaw. Can't recall the name of the company (could have been Dent Devils), but it was a mobile service, which I picked up on when I saw him visting the local Vauxhall dealers regularly.

The other job was done by Chips Away (St Albans) and I couldn't fault it, but it was mostly paint repair (vandal scratch and scraped bumper) plus one ding removal. Significantly, when I took another job to them they turned it down because they were not confident that their techniques would be successful. That's the kind of attitude that impresses me.

I've heard and read many times that the quality of work varies considerably among these franchise operations. So, if you can, you'd be well advised to go on local personal recommendation, and talking to local car dealers might be a good place to start, because they use these services all the time. Bodyshops use them too for parts of jobs for which their heavyweight services would be OTT.
