Kia Picanto - Car radio fault - Foru2

Hi the factory fitted car radio in my car has an intermittent fault where the radio sound just goes off and on. The power to the radio is always there, the fault doesn't happen if listening to a cd. The sound can go off for a hour then come back on or it can be just 5 minutes. Anyone have any ideas what's causing this? Do i need a whole new unit or could it be just a loose wire at the back of the unit?

Is it when listening to a DAB station? They are either there or not, you don’t tend to get a crackly service on a DAB channel, it just goes quiet.
Which makes me wonder whether the car’s aerial is at fault, and it’s losing signal.

There's no DAB with the radio, it's an AM/FM radio with cd player

Unlikely to be a connection fault . When the radio goes off , is there any “hiss “ noise as if the aerial is not connected ?

Very likely to be an internal fault within the radio unit . Not sure if a different non Kia radio will fit .

So you'd suggest getting a second hand one maybe from ebay?

I think that is a double Din fitting, so if in the uk, you should find a replacement.

a/c doc, remember I suggested one for venga?

on ebay £129 new double din sony with fitting kit.

I have no connection with it.

Up to you, but I helped some elderly friends do the same for their Kia venga.

you can check the sellers ratings, but that is a better price than I paid for the venga.
