bmw 320d, ED MODEL, E90 - BMW E90 ID CC 71 code, which sensor? - carnut1980

Hi all, my pads are good, but the red (!) came on for no reason, I can reset the service program/light, but the red ! stays on! Also has the red 'car on ramps' symbol.

I know it refers to pads or sensor, but the pads are all good!

What diagnostic code is CC ID 71? Would usually start with a 'P'?

This would potentially save me having to buy a 4 sensors!

P codes are powertrain , engine and transmission. You need a diagnostic tool that gives live data of pad wear . No idea what your code refers to.

Have you run over something in the road that has damaged a sensor or just given up because of age. You won't know unless you look. On past minis I have owned it was routine to change the sensor with the pads they are not expensive.

The 71 code refers to 'brakes ' (pads or sensors )

As the pads are all good, it can only be a sensor.

But the code doesn't say WHICH sensor.

Is there any software (INPA, etc) that will tell me this?

Otherwise its all 4 wheels off, all 4 sensors out, I assume.

And if there's no visual damage to the sensors, then what?

Have you asked on the BMW forum?

Eurocarparts and others have the parts for about £20,

1 front and 1 rear £40

Are you sure the warning light is for brake pads . ?The light for these is a circle with broken lines down each side .

The 71 code refers to 'brakes '

The pads are all good, so I assume its a wear sensor that's no good, but no idea which one.

Will I have to remove pads to pull the going out?

The parts themselves look like just a wire, no nuts or threads on the ends

Cheers, but i do have the INPA software, i also have OBD2 bluetooth reader, but it only shows generic P codes.

Just thought that a ID CC code, would also flag up on some high end diagnostic gear, under a different code?
