Audi A1 Sportback Sport - Hazard Light fuse location? - Matt Civil

Hi. I have an Audi A1 2021 and am looking for the location of the hazard light fuse so I can hardwire a dv750x dashcam. It doesn't show it in the owners manual which is a bit strange. Can anyone help? Thanks. Matt

On many late model cars , the lighting circuits are not fused , because they are controlled electronically with over load circuit protection. I would test each fuse in the cabin fuse box to find a suitable permanent or ignition supply circuit. May be more difficult than you think . What did the Audi club say?

Thanks for the advice. Audi club no response as yet. I have the engine start fuse in the cabin fuse box so could check permanent for that. The switched fuse no issue. Maybe a silly question but as soon as the car is unlocked, many switched fuses are activated. How do tell a permanent from a switched at that point?

Different circuits become live at different times . Even when you exit the car and lock it , some circuits stay alive for a short period before shutting down . That’s why I said this may be more difficult than you think .

Thanks again. Lol. Why is nothing ever straight forward these days! Just a quick question. Maybe misplaced logic but I figured that the dashcam must incorporate a switch that moves to permanent live once the engine is switched off. Therefore if I were to connect to say a known 12v switched fuse and a potential permanent live the video feed from the dash camshould remain on after a period of time if the potential permanent live was correct? Does that make sense

Reason I ask is that I don't want to do any damage if I use best guess on likely permanent fuse.

Thanks

I think you are over complicating the job . Dash cam needs to be wired to ignition system , otherwise you run the risk of a flat battery . They can be wired to a permanent supply circuit, but will need a smart module that shuts power to the dash cam when the battery voltage drops below a pre determined setting . I would go for a Nextbase model that has the intelligent parking mode that detects G force motion while camera is asleep . Don’t mess with electrics on a modern car . Incorrect installation can cause all sorts of drama.

Very good advice. If you cause any problem or damage you would invalidate the warranty of your expensive new car

OP. If you can afford a new Audi you can afford to pay someone to do the job properly.

This gives an idea of what's involved, including a discussion about the issue with fuses staying live after shutdown.

You will notice they had a problem with the power lead which needed a solution.
