Peugeot Partner - Switch off the radio - J0HNuk

I'm using a 2017 Peugeot Partner van this week at work. It has a touchscreen. I really need to turn the irritating radio off and there is no off button. Just turn the sound down I hear you say. Yes, I do, but I make deliveries and switch off up to 200 times a day. Each time the radio comes back on, on a very low volume, even though I turned the volume down completely.

Can anyone tell me how to keep the radio off one way or another?

From memory, there isn't an on/off button. Try selecting a different source for audio, see if stays on that source.

Normally pressing the volume knob on the radio or steering wheel on a Peugeot / Citroen will mute the audio.

There is no other source. Just radio. DAB or FM I think. I've tried tuning it to between stations but it just finds a station. I've tried to find the quietest station but haven't time to mess about. I just want silence.

Hitting volume up and down mutes the sound but it comes back on next time I turn the key. Same as setting the volume to '0'.

The thing comes back on 200 times a day at '3' volume. Just loud enough to be extremely irritating.

Pull the radio fuse ?

Is there a USB port? Plug a lead into that and see what happens. The next step would be to plug an empty USB stick into the port.

No USB but there is a small round port. Presumably auxillary. Don't think I have a cable handy though.

Worth trying tomorrow if I can't find a better solution, cheers.

Just as a thought, Have you tried asking a peugeot dealer or looking on the pug forum

or this

or from the forum

I solved this problem on my 2016 Partner by doing a 'return to factory settings' on the settings menu.

Its a pity the Snap-On ratchet from another thread went missing, else you could have used it to smash the radio.

Managed to tune it in to some kind of ghost station, silent. Let's hope it's silent again today.

I never thought I'd want my usual van, a Fiat Doblo, back do much!

It seems Peugeot and Citroen assume all drivers want the radio on at all times, and even helpfully turn the volume up every time you start a new journey.

Madness.

There must be something hidden in the complex menu to alter the user Settings - I don't believe this can't be stopped electronically, rather than mechanically.

What I would do is to purchase on of these in-car FM radio transmitters. There are many different ones available I just give this one as an example:

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wireless-Car-Kit-FM-Transmitter...4

Tune the radio to the output of the transmitter and, if you don't feed any source of audio into the transmitter it should just put out a silent blank carrier on the selected frequency.

Silence!

If I had it long term, I'd do that, or even just plug an old phone in and select as source.

Hopefully I get my Doblo back on Monday (I never thought I'd hear myself say that!)

I find it hard to believe myself. It's not just the no-off-button thing, but the fact that it increases the volume next time you switch on, after setting it to zero.

Why not contact the radio manufacturer or Peugeot?

I was given the van on Thursday morning with no notice. Driving around , very busy when I realised the radio kept coming back on. Just needed a quick answer.
Got my Fiat back now, so I don't care.
