My old Golf runs brilliantly apart from a slight hesitation when the car is moving and the accelerator is pressed firmly.
Everything seems to be working OK i.e. no vacuum loss, recent full service etc.
Any ideas please.

Did the air filter get changed while in for a service?

Obviously you should check that all the routine service parts were indeed changed. The fuel filter is often overlooked - should be done every 24k. Beyond that the most likely causes of your problem are poor insulation on HT leads (specifically the plug covers) or a dirty injector. Try using an injector cleaner with your next two tankfulls - I use Forté Fuel System Cleaner (only available from a trade user/stockist) but VW's own product (available from any VAG outlet) is also very good.
Do you use supermarket fuel ? If so try also a couple of tanks of high street brand fuel.
After that I think you need to consider some professional diagnostic time.

The car is due for service on Thurday. It is done by someone who I trust to do it by the book 100%.
The fuel filter was changed last time. I nearly always use Texaco fule in the car.
I dont think that I've ever changed the HT leads.
Thanks for the advice re the fuel. I'll try it.
