Hyundai i30 - TPMS sensor reset/recalibration - Grease_monkey

Can anyone advise me if there is a reset/recalibration procedure for TPMS sensors on Hyundai i30. The book says to drive the car, the sensor is pinging as that's been checked. The warning cleared once but has returned. Everything is at the correct pressures and the sensor was okay before it was removed for the alloy wheels to be refurbished.

Removing tpms sensors from the wheel rim is a challenge. They usually corrode onto the alloy . Chances are it’s been damaged during the refurbishment. Probably going to need a new one.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. Autodoc have continental/VDO sensor for £32 and that looks like OEM.

Do new sensors need to be activated to the car or will I get away with taking the wheel to a tyre fitter. Getting them to fit the sensor and refitting the wheel myself?

Not sure what system is fitted to your car . Some cars have self calibration sensors others not . Probably best to take the car to the tyre shop . My fiesta was easy , got a new sensor from Ford , had it fitted , drove about 5 miles , and we’re fixed .

I would imagine most tyre places are able to deal with TPMS these days since every new car is fitted with them and most are the valve based systems.

I would let your trusted indy sort it. If you go ahead and buy the wrong sensor the fitter will charge you for fitting it and removing it and then charge you to fit the replacement. If they order the wrong one or it doesn't work its their problem.

Looking like OEM means nothing other than its a good copy, doesn't mean it will work.

This thread reminded me to look up replacements for my Accord - dreading the OEM cost when they need replacing which they don't ATM.

This company seems to know a lot about TPMS systems, programming, etc
