I was checking over the car today, it's a Micra 1L, W Reg, and underneath the car what I think is the sump is half covered in greasy oil. There are no drips and it is not losing any oil, I get six monthly oil changes and have never had to top it up. The bottom side of the engine is the same just like a film of grease.
It is running ok, it's just that I have never noticed this on previous cars and am hoping it is normal.
Thanks for any replies.

The oil filter on a Micra is difficult to get at, as it is at the rear of the engine.
When the filter is changed, oil will always trickle down the side of the engine and onto the sump.
If whoever changes your oil and filter does not do a thorough clean-up job, then this could explain the mess.
If you are not loosing any oil, then I wouldn't worry about it, but mention it the next time it is serviced.

Thanks Doc, I think that explains what has happened, I have cleaned it up and hope that's all it needs.
