Mazda CX-5 - Mazda CX-5 Engine repair - Diogob

Hello Everyone,

I have a Mazda CX-5 2.2D 2013 which has broken down, i sent it to a reconditioning place and after they removed and opened the engine were quoting me a different price than what we agreed, which then i recovered the car back to me as it seemed they just wanted to take my money

Is there any reliable place to fix it? Or buy a 2nd hand engine?

Thanks

What work was involved in the original price you agreed? And what extra work did the garage say was needed after they removed the engine?

Mazda's 2.2 diesel engines are ticking time bombs so it is not surprising that the garage changed its estimate.

The agreed repair was to recondition the engine, they only opened the engine to start reconditioning it, but then mentioned it would have to be replaced and offered me a 2nd hand engine for a higher price.

Yeah i know they are time bombs now, which i didn't know when i got it, im thinking now to fix it then get rid of it

Worth doing only if you can recover the cost of repair ? If the car is returned to full health you might as well get some use from it, or you will pay to change as well.

Yeah, im paying monthly for it, the main reason for changing is because i dont want to keep having issues with it.

Now im stuck with it and i don't know where to bring it to fix it

That might happen with any 7-year-old car. So it's the same question - fix what you have, or take the hit of trading in a non-runner.
