Hi all, I'm looking for some advice on what might be the best outcome for my car... So yesterday whilst driving, my heater became intermittent and began blowing cold air and eventually it blew only cold air. I also noticed towards the end of my journey that it was slightly more difficult to accelerate but I was only driving on 30 roads so it wasn't clear how much of a problem it was. Today, again, my heater was only blowing out cold air & after driving for roughly ten minutes on the motorway I couldn't keep up the speed and despite my foot being firmly down on the accelerator I was only able to get to around 40/50 mph. So obviously I had to pull over. AA came out (they had to use a third party company due to high volumes) & after a check stated that the problem seems to be the intercooler and suspects that the head gasket has gone. I have a Vauxhall Astra 05 plate, 1.7 Diesel. It's done 158,000 miles I'm just wondering if anyone can offer some advice on what I should do. My head is telling me my car won't be worth the repairs & is ready for the scrap. I will shortly be contacting garages for a quote but in the meantime does anyone know what the costs could amount to for this repair? Also, just any general advice on the topic of repair/scrap? Thanks in advance, Kyle
