Old rover 623 - Should i get AGM battery or lead acid battery? - bladest

Hi good people,

i wonder since my car batterie recently died,

could you please tell me,

what i should get for my old car

90s baby,.

so i own rover 623

petrol fuel 2.3 engine

car doesnt have start stop system , it have headlights,

and 1500w music,

3 amps,

and 2 farad capacitor , but my question is since lead acid batteries die in lets say 3-4 year max,

is there a realible brand or i should go to agm since they have longer lifespan this is what people or sellers claim ?

If you dont like agm batteries for my car is there a long lasting car batteries technologies which i can buy some people claim optima batteries are the best for me?

So far i have driven with turkish and usa brand exide but i am not happy from both of these..

also with genuine gm as well, not happy at all.

So i need something very reliable since i dont want to change my car battery very often,

this year i already bought 1 car battery for my other old car so i preffer long lasthing technologies and products instead of cheap junky car batteries...

are the car battery which can last 6 or more years? like optima or some other brand i am afraid if i get agm battery for my old car i dont know if my alternator wont damage it since its older for lead acid batteries...

My original Hyundai battery has just been changed after 11 years 1 month, slow start a couple of mornings and full test showed it was on its way out. So some car batteries do last more than 6 years.

So some car batteries do last more than 6 years.

They certainly do - mine was installed in the car in April 2008 and has been starting a diesel motor ever since. I wait for it to pack up every winter. I guess one is just lucky as there's not much one can do by way of TLC to keep a maintenance-free battery going.

Yuasa 5000 series, 4 years warranty but usually last much longer.

Tanya are probably the cheapest source.

Used Tanya for replacement Yuasa battery for Jazz earlier this year. Excellent service and cheaper than anyone...

(Original Varta battery lasted 8 years)

My previous 2003 Skoda Superb mk I 1.9pd was originally fitted with a Varta battery from new. It's still going strong after about 250k miles and 17 years albeit now under the new ownership of a friend.

Your car may not charge AGM batteries correctly. Maybe the best option is to get a EFB (enhanced flooded) type. Yours is a 027 size I believe and the major brands are available. As Gordonbennet says, Tanya have competitive prices. I have used them twice and their delivery is very quick.
