Ford Fiesta 1.4 2011 - Remote key problems - Cicero

I am asking a question on behalf of a friend. Pressing the open button on the remote opens all doors except the hatch. There is a separate button on the remote for opening the hatch and this works. Has anyone any idea what is wrong, please?

Looking at the handbook, one press of the unlock button should unlock the driver door and the tailgate. 2 presses unlocks the other doors. (depending on how the lock/unlock system has been configured). perhaps there is an issue with the system. Disconnecting the car battery for 5 mins may restore the system to correct operation.
