VAG 1.9 TDI - Procedure for re-connecting DPF back to turbo? - Roy Brown

Hi, I have done a lot of work on my car recently but the only thing I am really struggling with is refitting the DPF/Exhaust back onto the turbo, it keeps blowing out!

I didnt think I would have this much hassle when removing it so I did not pay much attention when removing. I have researched lots of videos//images etc online but I cant find much about this procedure for this model

I have refitted the circular steel gasket onto the DPF side. It seems like the V band clamp is almost too small to clamp onto the turbo AND the lip of the DPF, however this is the one that was removed....Should I be using a new V band clamp?

Does the dpf connect 'into' the turbo itself or does it simply line up with the face of it?

If anyone has a link to any clear images it would be greatly appreciated! I must add I am working with the car on axle stands so its quite awkward to line everything up etc.

What car is it fitted to? The problem you have is not many people have a 1.9pd with a DPF as pd technology didn't work well with the active regen cycle - hence VAG quickly moved to CR engines which played much better with DPFs. It does sound as though something is missing, required for reassembly. Also if this was fitted to the car before is it possibly blocked? - I'm guessing it was removed for a reason.

When the DPF was removed was the regen cycle coded out of the engine map? - that will have to be sorted along with any sensors required.

For most cars where a DPF delete has been done it is difficult to reverse and on cars of a certain age it's not usually cost effective to do so.
