If the courts made an order for the offender to carry on paying off any monies owed or face the bailiffs or even bankruptcy what would be the issue? The Finance company would get their money and the idiot would be off the road.

The Audi driver was a bit excessive but says something about how stable the car was that he could drive with one hand. Although traffic is increasing again, roads have been pretty quiet and most modern cars are pretty capable at higher speeds when traffic is light.

I hope you are not suggesting its OK to drive at such speeds holding a mobile just because the roads are less busy than normal.

Last year We had a smart meter fitted and the chap was moaning because he had just been done for speeding for the 3rd time (46 in a 30) and he said he was planning to defend it on the basis that it was 4.00am, the roads were deserted and as an experienced driver he could decide what a safe speed was. I hope it went well for him.

I'd doubt even with Audi's impressive engineering it would be that stable at 200mph, the road surface of British roads simply isn't smooth enough. There doesn't seem to be enough wind noise either. I suspect even with two hands on the wheel even a professional race driver would struggle to keep the car that steady. Your average half wit who thinks they can drive whilst filming with a phone would struggle to keep the car in a straight line, never mind process the information on the road ahead fast enough at the same time to manage not to crash.

I suspect the film may be a cleverly doctored fake, as people do have rather a lot of time on their hands at the moment and the maker was probably aiming for lots of YouTube views to earn a bit of cash! The car must be doing more than the speed limit as it is passing every other car, but by speeding up the frame rate and doing some editing on the car instruments, 100mph could be changed to look like 200mph. (Not that driving at 100mph while filming yourself is particularly safe either.......)

Understand what you mean Skodalan, but there's horrendous wind noise on the video and he's overtaking those cars and vans as if they're stationery.

I don't think there's any trickery and the revs on the rev counter correspond to the speed/gear.

The car is probably doing a true 193 ish which is obviously foolhardy, dangerous and highly illegal.

He won't make any cash out of it as it's a new YouTube account and does not have enough subscribers - also anying illegal like this Google will normally close down anyway eventually.

May be that customer who complained about a noise coming from his German car at 136mph.

Being turned down for a refund in this country he returned the car to the factory in Germany only to be told his complaint was with the UK importers.

Thinking he was on a winner because of the UK speed limit he was shocked when the customer services manager took him on to a motorway in the North West and took the car up to 135 mph.

He was told the noise was wind rushing through the grill and normal for the model ! So the claim was turned down !
