If any of us needed to get a car now it would be a difficult task I guess. Can't get out more than once a day and have to keep local....would be a nightmare if someone stole your pride and joy now. Except for the very odd shopping trip ours stay on the drive, never used so little fuel.

More difficult but not insurmountable - as long as you can find somewhere that is selling them!

I'm saving £200 a month working from home on fuel costs.

Both our cars went for short journeys on April Fools' Day - actually for one of them to get an MoT - so I took one out on Monday for about 13 miles and the other yesterday likewise. It's actually very pleasant on empty roads in spring. The 12-year-old 207 diesel is still on its original battery, so I'm waiting to see if that lasts the summer ....

I assume those journeys on Monday and Tuesday were essential.

Only to me. But as I neither stopped, nor met any other person, that was unimportant.

Garage down from us is closed but cars still on the forecourt and there is a sign on the door asking interested parties to call the garage owners mobile to arrange viewing and test drive.

Other garages have removed all their stocks to some secret location.

Assuming somebody bought a new car when all this virus rubbish ends( late summer?) -then that very same vehicle could well have been parked in a field since the end of march ,waiting to be lorried to a dealer. Same with nearly new and also second hand cars too......?

Be interesting to see what happens
