Nissan Juke - Fallen exhaust after service - Hannah White

I had a full MOT and service on Monday - only advisories on the MOT were front tyres which will meed chsmging soon. However today whilst driving the car started to make a hissing noise whilst accelarating snd when i stopped the exhaust us still attached (just) but it hanging down and is loose. Should this has been noticed during service? If fittings were loose etc - dont want to call them implying that if not. Also car is noticeably louder with exhaust hanging down- am i pooking at expensive fix? Thankyou

Dear me, exhausts have such loose morals these days.....

Should this have been noticed during service?

Yes it should. But if you take it back they will probably say 'it was all right when we saw it, .....you must've hit a pothole on the way home...'

Shouldn't cost much to fix - I paid a tenner for my friendly indie to weld on a rusted bracket a couple of years ago. Take a knowledgeable bloke along in case they try to fleece you. My suspicious mind wonders if.....no, perish the thought.

IIRC a few "sting operation" undercover surveys have confirmed instances of the sort of perishing you are probably thinking about, such as a quick poke at a CV boot with a screwdriver being a nice little earner.

Long time ago though. Perhaps standards are higher today.
