Seat Altea XL 1.6 petrol 2007. - ABS and Traction control lights come on. - Johngalaxy

When i first start the engine on my car the ABS light comes on, then when i start to drive my car the ABS light turns off for approximately 10 seconds and then the ABS and Traction control lights come on together and do not go off until i stop the car and turn off my engine.

What could be causing this to happen?

Any advice will be much appreciated,

Not the sort of fault you can guess at . Best way forward would be to get some diagnostic test carried out . Something simple you may want to check first , do the brake lights work ?

I checked the brake lights and they are working fine. About 6 weeks ago i changed the brake pads and disks, not unless that has anything to do with the warning lights coming on?

Doubt if the pad change has caused the issue , unless the wiring to the front hubs has been damaged. The brake light switch does more than one function , so could still be a problem.

Thanks for your advice. Next week i will get my car connected to a diagnostic machine to see what the problem is.

My guess is a faulty ABS sensor connection, as the Traction Control utilises the same sensors - but without seeing the diagnostic codes, it is just a guess.
