I bought a retro fit CD player advertised as plug and play via a USB, the device would not work in the car, tried every USB on desktop, laptop smart TV none would recognise it.

Within the same day I informed the company obtained return label and posted it back for a refund, the unit price was £109.95, the E-Bay dealer has deducted £55.95 for return postage and re packaging costs.

I have since spotted on another site where these CD retrofit units do not work in various makes of car, I am waiting as one has to for Paypal to investigate after 8 days.

If it is faulty you should get it all refunded once Ebay/PayPal step in, keep us posted

Thanks I will, I expected to pay the return postage and repackaging of unit, but not that amount, if that is the way they trade surely E-Bay would help.

Even if the unit was working you are entitled to 100% refund under "distance selling" - full price & return postage.

the fact that it was faulty makes it even more compelling.

As for packaging there was a court case where Currys refused a refund as the original box was not kept - court decision was faulty goods do not need packaging to get a refund.

As above, Paypal/Ebay should sort this all out in your favour, nasty trick by the seller ebay won't like that one bit.

Update, very kind person at E-Bay HQ, has just informed me that remainder £54.95 will be returned to my account.

Thanks all for your helpful comments.
