Impersonal Contract Purchase.
From previous experience, not a good idea to enter into any lease or PCP with the main dealer much better to use a third party supplier.
Its very unlikely any PCP will allow early termination. The dealers answer would be that the hirer should have insured against the possibility. So don't even bother asking questions.
Assuming your father was married, no probate would be required

'Assuming your father was married, no probate would be required'
True if the asset, in this case the PCP, is a joint asset.
Otherwise, the PCP is sole responsibilty of the deceased gentleman.

I agree that the lessee would have been better placed if insurance had been arranged, to manage this PCP in event of this sad situation.

Made a mokkary? Oh behave. No one forced anyone into buying a car. If this had of been a diesel owner claiming they were 'co-erced' of 'forced' into buying a diesel instead of petrol, HJ would have given the writer short shrit!

I actually really feel sorry for this woman. Taken for a ride by a trained professional salesperson. We live in a polite society and these people are trained to take full advantage of that. I genuinely don't think she ever intended to make such a purchase but was in effect coerced. It's just that the level of coercion is way below that which a court might recognize. I think it's a valuable lesson for those who might fall prey to such tactics to ensure they do not 'shop alone' take with a trusted friend.

"Off the Pace", "First they said it could be the cylinder; then it was not firing; now the software was not updated." Well, there is the problem, only one cylinder?
