Cost per mile of VW Tiguan - mowerman

I have a 2015 (65) VW tiguan R Line and need to find out the total cost per mile, ie including depreciation, everything.
The RAC used to list total costs per mile but I can't find it now. Any links would help.
Many thanks.

Depreciation is a moving target - it continuously reduces as the vehicle gets older so arithmetically it depends on the price paid when you buy it and the expected value when you plan to sell it.

...and how much the repair bills are for someone who buys a

a) diesel

b) with a DSG gearbox.

Also depends on how much you paid for the car, i.e, if it was a high, low or average price. Find out how much the car is worth now, calculate how much you lost from your purchase price, add on your running costs, and divide the answer by your mileage.

Why the need to mention you found it on Google?

Why the need to mention you found it on Google?

It encourages people to use Google to search before asking a question

Why the need to mention you found it on Google?

Why the need to question mentioning Google?. I have done it myself where i have responded to a question by saying "Just Google .......(whatever)". I think the last time was someone looking for an independant BMW specialist locally. It is by far the biggest and most widely used search engine, so saying Google it just basically means do an internet search.

Why bother replying if you are just going to put that? Either be helpful or don't post?

Why the need to mention you found it on Google?

Because I get tired of doing something people could do easily.

It aooears to be sheer laziness..

Don't post then - no one forced you to. Post because you want to be helpful.

But it's good advice to people who didn't think to search Google, Bing or whatever

The link is to NEW CARS.

The car is 4/5 years old so the prices will differ

1) Less depreciation

2) Repairs on older car rather than warranty. Even if no breakdown there is ongoing maintenance that is not there in a new car - brakes, exhaust etc etc

The OP has provided absolutely no context to the question being asked.

In my experience if you ask half a question you won't get back half an answer. You will get back many answers all of which are probably wrong!

Cost per mile are only given for new cars as it is accepted warranty will cover most repairs. After that it is anyone guess.

In the instance i mentioned, i suggested to the OP to Google "independant BMW specialists near me", as, at that point, the OP had not given a specific location. Once i found this out, i then did it myself and forwarded the details and review results of four different garages near to the OP.

Don't post then - no one forced you to. Post because you want to be helpful.

And in all honesty your input to this thread has been rather less helpful than madf, who did post a link for the info the OP wants, (albeit laced with a hint of sarcasm). How have you helped the OP?.

I've not helped the op - there was already a link for them.

Hopefully I have helped the forum to stop any more sarcastic replies - there is no need for them and puts people off visiting.

Well said. I have often noticed what appear to be innocent questions, perhaps asked by those whose first language is not English, being labelled as spam.

To answer the OP, he can only work out the cost per mile if he has diligently kept all service and repair receipts and accurately measured the fuel consumption. He can only arrive at the capital (depreciation) cost per mile after he has sold the car, unless he guesses what he will get for it.

If everyone used Google, there wouldn't be much a need for a forum like this. Some people quite naturally prefer to have a question answered or discussed directly. So let's stick to dealing with Mowerman's question, whether or not it could be found on Google.

In this particular case, Mowerman, you need to tell us more about what you are looking for. Cost per mile, as others have implied, involves too many unknowns, particularly depreciation which is linked to the future life of the car, how long you're going to keep it for and how much you can sell it for.

If you're worried about what the Tiguan is costing to run, try to do a budget for the coming year estimating the various costs in total. Dividing that by 12 to give you a cost per month might be more useful.

Mowerman's question has been dealt with, the link madf posted gives the info required.
