Ford focus style (100) 1.6 petrol year 1999 - FORD FOCUS PARKING HANDBRAKE - Delysher

I am informed by one self employed mechanic ( that because the car hand brake only just holds when the handbrake is fully pulled up to the last link, that the car rear brake shoes would need replacing.

How can I check the shoes to confirm this and how much should I be looking at in total to replace the vehicles rear shoes and front wheel pads if they need replacing ?

Regards Delysia

It probably just needs adjusting. If you remove the handbrake lever rubber boot you will see in the depths a small nut, 10mm I think, which tightens up the cables. You'll probably need a box spanner or socket extension to get at it. I've had to do it once in our Focus's lifetime - 19yrs/142,000 miles. Have a look on u-tube to see how.
