VW Sharan 2011 - Turbooverboost/DPF problems - Adam Trout

Hi,

I'm having issues with my 2011 Sharan 60k miles and looking for advice.

Currently the car is with a garage and the history is:

Engine light came on, we were told it was a turbo overboost issue in the first place, and the turbo was replaced. After this the car was still going into limp mode, so the garage put another 2 turbos in, with the code then saying underboost.

Still engine light would come on and go into underboost. The garage now thinks the DPF needs replacing. They removed the "I think" the lambda sensor, which on a test drive allowed the car to generate full power.

They have tried a force regen but the car won't have it.

At no point in owning the car (only 1 year) have we seen the DPF light, and whilst we do do short journeys I drive it high revs for periods to what I thought was encourage an active regen.

My concern at this stage is I have paid for a turbo I didn't need to, but the garage argues given the code is different the turbo was at fault.

Anyone have any advice or thoughts?

I have no doubt these parts are not freebies under some sort of warranty cover?

Sounds to me a classic case of throwing parts at a car until we alight on a fix, 3 turbos for goodness sake, i would looking for another garage, maybe a question asked on the relevant VW forum would help find a worthwhile VW specialist workshops.

If removing the lambda sensor restores performance, then I would think there is a blockage in the exhaust system . Could be the dpf , or further back in the system. Needs to be investigated with a possible reason for a blockage.

It does sound like the DPF is probably not being allowed to regen itself.

Driving at high revs won't induce a regen.

I think you need to take it to a VW Independant who has the correct diagnostics.

I'm sure they will find some codes that are preventing a regen.

Car also need at least 1/4 tank of fuel for a forced regen.
