Hi oldroverboy
I've seen a few of your posts regarding the Venga, most of them with a good feedback of the car.
We have above £6-7k budget and the venga seems a very good option for us (young family of 3 with daily very short runs a 3,4 occasional long runs yearly - 6-10k miles/year). Looking for a petrol 1.4 or 1.6 with some years of the remainder warranty.
Would be great if you, as a user of one of them, could give me a quick Pros and Cons and some advice I should know before buying.
The question could be, would I have another,,, answer, yes... but the mg zs 2017 is roomier.....(over your budget unless you go for th 0% interest over 5 years...)Buy from a Kia approved dealer, even if you have to travel a bit. The Hyundai ix20 is identical.
The 1.4 engine is fine, floor it when you need to and it will move. The 1.6 has worse fuel consumption for little benefit. Our venga went frequently to belgium and france with us luggage and the dog. buy yourself a steel wheel and get a full size tyre on it. Don't forget that if you buy from a KIA approved dealer you will get the balance of warranty.

This is a nice one, and is where i got a venga for my neighbours. just off the M25 J 25.

Bear in mind, the Hyundai ix20 is essentially the same car with a different badge and slightly different front and rear styling. This will open up your potential choices if restricted to within a certain radius of your home. And while the Hyundai does have a 5 year warranty as opposed to 7 with the venga, i seriously doubt you'd have any issues going for a n/a petrol.

Thanks for your comments.
I have been thinking regarding the 1.6 petrol due to the 6th gears for long journeys, but to be honest it doesn't seem a very good reason from the fuel economy point of view.
I will keep on eye on the Hyundai ix20, just in case there is an interesting option not far from Lichfield, but I think the 7 years warranty from Kia will give me more peace on mind. I don't mind travel as long as my local Kia Dealer can deal with a warranty claim in case something happen. The only thing I still have to do is convince my wife, as she likes the Fiat500L. I hope I can make a decision within the next 2-3 weeks.
Thanks again for your feedback, it is really helpful.

One thing I will say in praise of the ix20 and the venga, is that the seats were comfy for both of us driving, me 6'2" and her 5'3 and a bit. I am 96 kilos, she is a good bit less.
Burton Kia are not far from you but it doesn't have aircon.

Hi Prjpro Are you sure you can get a 1.6 petrol with 6 manual gears? In the UK as far as I am aware the 1.6 petrol has only ever had an auto box. Before 2016 it was a 4 speed torque converter and after that a 6 speed torque converter. The auto boxes are VERY thirsty around town and you won't see much more than 25mpg with town miles only. We get 23 mpg on average in ours (2012) but we only do 1 to 2 mile journeys for most of the week. On a decent run it shoots up to around 38mpg.
If you don't need an auto, the 1.4 petrol is a much better bet, is quite nippy and so much more efficient than the 1.6 autos. You can get a 1.6 diesel manual if you wanted to consider diesel but usual caveats about DPF and low mile journeys apply of course.
Its a shame Kia didn't offer the 1.6 manual in the UK as the 125BHP chain cam engine is actually very strong and mated with a manual gearbox it would perform really well
Apart from that the Venga is a deceptively spacious car, drives really well, is easy to get in and out of and doesn't have to many fancy gizmo's to go wrong. The rear seats also slide forwards and back to give extra boot room or leg room and the boot floor lowers to give more space. If you decide to go for one try and get a Kia Approved Used to have the warranty still active. Do also remember to keep the warranty intact you need to have Kia dealer servicing and the prices to me seem a little high so factor this in as necessary / ask your intended dealer for prices maybe? Oh and up until 2014 they came with the truly awful goo pump puncture repair system so you might want to factor in a space saver wheel / toolkit as minimum (available on Ebay or from dealer at about £250 last time I asked them) Could use it as a bargaining chip maybe ie: no spare wheel / no sale etc
Regarding ix20, mechanically its the same car but there are some body styling differences and the interior feels a bit "cheaper" than the Venga but it is a very subjective thing. At your budget you might struggle getting an ix20 still in warranty as Hyundai did 5 year.
We went for the Kia (a 1.6 Auto, model 3) as my wife is disabled but can drive auto and preferred the Kia interior and with our budget of £7K we could get one still with some Kia Warranty.

Hi VengaPete
Yes, definitely there is a 1.6 Petrol Manual Kia Venga. I visited a dealer yesterday, just for checking the car dimensions inside, how it looks "in person", how easy is seating the little one in the rear seat, etc. I can't complaint. A more than decent boot, It really match what every opinion and article I have read online, it has a really spacious interior for his "external" size. Exactly what wee need.
I even test drove it, (even when I insisted I was not ready to buy it yet), and it goes really well. It was a 2014 Kia Venga 3, 1.6 Petrol Manual, with all the Top Specs, Rear Cam, Sat Nav, Pan Roof...
Bad things:
-The screen shown a average consumption of 27.7 mpg which is not great. -That specific car had a missing services, which means it doesn't have any Kia warranty anymore. - Pump puncture repair system
So, the decision about the car in definitively done. It will be a Petrol Manual Kia Venga (or ix20), we don't really care too much about the trim level, it will depend on the finance we can finally get, which is the only thing which stopping me to buy it right now.
(I have commented the high APR issue in another thread, and right now we are looking into get a better APR, which it doesn't look promising, I am looking into every single suggestion I have been given in the other thread)
Will see how it ends. I will update the thread once I know.
Thanks to everyone for the comments, it is really helpful.

PJ...
Could this be a useful compromise?
You will get 1 full year KIA warranty with it,

Hi oldroverboy
That's a ver good price, and very close to me . Notsure regarding the warranty as it is from 2012, so the warranty will be over at some point this year.
Before making a final decision in the car, we are looking into the APR issue. We are trying every suggestion we have been given in the other thread, but we will probably go for this or one similar if we can't get any better APR.
I will update the thread once the final decisionhave been made.
Thanks

Call the dealer to confirm, I think the car being Kia approved will have 12 months warranty at point of sale.

Hi All
I am going to update you all on how everything ended with the purchase of the Kia Venga.
Buying the car took more time than I thought due to personal issues, that's why it took me so long to come back and write this.
I finally bought a 2016 Kia Venga 2 1.4 Petrol with ISG and 40k miles with the balance of the kia warranty, with a very good deal as per I could compare in Autotrader, Cargurus, Ebay, etc.
On the APR issue, I finally got a better APR from RateSetter, (just below 10% for borrowing up to £5000 on 4 years) . The KIA dealer finally offered me the same deal than RateSetter so I went with them.
I tried previously with Zuto, my bank, an a few more compaies and all of them always offered me an APR above 14%, so I found RateSetter quite competitive (I commented this just in case someone in a similar situation is looking for a loan, I hope this is not considered advertising).
Regarding the car, I have got it since a week ago, so at the moment all ok as described. I will comeback for the forum in a few months to leave a better and completed review, as I am sure it will be helpful for someone in the future.
Thanks for your help to everyone who left a comment.

I'm very surprised at that as Kia's own media indicates the manual 1.6 was only ever available on the Continent. The 3 models had all the toys and could be specced with the screen for rear cam and sat nav as an extra to the normal 3 spec. If you have an advert for the car I'd be interested to see it

Hi VengaPete
See link below from autotrader, there are a few of them available (1.6 petrol manual), so I assume it is a mistake from Kia's media. The one I saw was a Red one in Oldbury, it should be still listed. Really nice car and really nice dealer. I would have very probably bought it if the service would have been made on time. Even so, I think is a good deal but we can't afford pay that in cash right now. see the link below, there are several examples.
Right now still dealing with the APR issue before check any other car.

According to the 'model history' section of the review on this website the 1.6 petrol became available as a manual after the Jan 2015 update.

And a quick look on Autotrader shows there are currently 173 Venga's with the 1.6 engine and manual gearbox for sale.

Ok folks, hands up here...reading back my replies I wasn't as clear as what I thought I was so apologies. Engage brain before typing etc....
In my defence, Prjpro indicated a 2014 Venga (...."It was a 2014 Kia Venga 3",...) and the facelift with 1.6 manual gearbox didn't happen until 2015. Hence my reply about the model being wrong for the year. I'm guessing it must have been a late plate '64 which of course would have been in the first 3 months of 2015 due to how our number plates work and hence would have been a facelift model.
So mystery solved.
Prjpro - I'd go for the 1.4 if you are wanting a bit more fuel efficiency. See if you can find one for a test drive and see what the mpg meter shows - it should be into the 30's even around town. Kia's are known to be "quite thirsty". Maybe check out some of the fuel related threads on the UK Kia forum. I was disappointed with mine until I read it and found it was quite normal for the auto to be down at 23mpg around town. And there are plenty of manual ones about so try and hold out for one that has some warranty left or has the price adjusted downwards accordingly.
