It's about time

Theses Chinese knock offs should never have been allowed in the first place.

Maybe the Chinese government are realising the damage that is being done not only to the companies involved but also to its name on the international stage.

I suspect they are now relaising that with quite a few domestic Chinese firms (i.e. only selling in China) selling knock-offs of Western goods (not just cars) and Trump getting annoyed about them seemingly 'appropriating' US firms patented ideas and products, they are starting to understand that they need to put their house in order, especially as other nations in the region and elsewhere are upping their game and starting to undercut Chinese factories on price as well as matching quality.
