Renault Scenic - Renault Scenic III 1.9 130 hp oil change - ivan_scenic

Hello,

When I change the oil and the oil filter on my scenic I have always a lot of troubles to "extract" the oil filter, because from the bottom there is no space and from the top there are a lot of tubes.

Please help me with your experiences when changing the oil filter (maybe I have to unscrew the big tube that goes to the turbo???).

Assuming it's a screw-on and you have access, wrap about five turns of thin rope (that blue stuff often found by the side of the road is about the right size) anticlockwise round the filter, working towards the centre. Pull hard. If it slips, add another turn or two. Always works for me.

I have a similar trouble getting to grips with a spin on oil filter on a motorcycle, very hard to get a to due to the position of the mainstaand. The method I use is a length of old fashioned flat packing tape ( 12/15 inches) enough to hook over the base of the filter, squeeze together the ends and apply turning force to.. Cut down an old cycle inner tube or rubber glove so its about 3 to 4 inches long x an inch wide, this gives the packing case tape grip. Clean and dry the surface of the filter then using the tape with the rubber beneath it twist off the filter.
