Has HJ abandoned this?

My daughter recently took her car for an MOT and received an advisory for rear disc pads wearing thin. Rear pads are thin from new in my experience. She had them replaced at the MOT garage, who advised her a rear wheel bearing needed replacing!She let them replace it.

She told me this after all the work was done, but it's ringing alarm bells with me. If the wheel bearing needed replacing, why wasn't it picked up by the MOT tester? Ireckon they saw her coming.
