Back in Dec 2018 I reported that I had an insurance discount for having a Dashcam. What I didn't say was that it was £30, £183 instead of £213..

My old generic dashcam, £14.99 Aldi has given up the ghost... so got a 312g online for £49.95 less a £7.50 nectar voucher that i had.

Better quality too, clearer menu, and easier to use. Nice thin cable that i have been able to route around the door seal.

You got a bargain there.

I bought the 512GW and the quad HD is pointless. I switched it to using HD as the lens is not good enough to cope with the extra resolution and it works at a higher frame rate at HD which is more useful. I suspect sensor technology has peaked, and that mine is no better than yours in practical terms.

As you probably know, I recently had someone reverse into the side of my car, requiring a new door and dents removing from the sill and B pillar. My dash cam footage was perhaps pivotal is getting the other party to accept fault. Also last night I got footage of someone driving on the wrong side of the road near where I live, which could have been used in evidence had they crashed.

Well done ORB. Look like you got a bargain there. I am disappointed with my Silent Witness dash cam. It is hard wired and I intend to leave it in the vehicle when I return it next year. It is difficult to use, not user friendly, comes without an SD card and now will not operate when off the mounting. Which means the internal battery is Donald Ducked after less than two years.I also need to re-format the device very often, which is a pain. If this is not done it ceases to operate correctly. Also you have to go online and download any information to use it or to recover any information from it. All together a useless and clumsy piece of kit. So the message is: don't touch Silent Witness with a barge pole. Next time I will get a rough and ready off the shelf unit, most of which do a great job. Incidentally the Silent Witness was £300 including fitting. What a waste. They saw me coming alright.

Cheers Concrete

Well done, something I've not got...really should I suppose, bought my son one a year ago, not very expensive but it's proved faultless .

The Nextbase 212G HD is currently £49 at Argos - an absolute bargain.
