Toyota Corolla - Ariel - Geoffrey Courtney

I have a T registration Toyota Corolla with a radio ariel that goes over the top front of the car. I have a new radio that has replaced the original factory radio and consequently the sound is better but is there a way I can improve the signal. My ariel is a screw on type and it's not loose, or am I stuck with the ariel I have because it's an old car?

Roof top aerials are pretty much maintenance free ,and rarely give problems.. What make radio have you fitted to replace the original?
