Assuming the car is not fitted with stop/start system , then you need an 027/ 075 calcium type battery. Stick with a known brand . Bosch, Exide Yuasa etc . Avoid the Lion brand from Ecp.

After you have made your selection before you buy, have a look at on online battery supplier from Tewksbury called batterymegastore.co.uk, they have a large stock of various brands, including detailed measurements of each battery they sell, delivery is the next working day if you order before 2pm, delivery is included in the stated price.

They may even still price match ( they did when I last purchased a battery).my last battery for an old fiesta was a brand that they seem to promote called Hankook, 4 & half years later it is still performing well.

I second batterymegastore as a good supplier, and yes it's handy having the dimensions to double check, and a diagram to confirm the poles are in the right place.

As for battery makes, not always easy to find but i always buy Yuasa whenever one is needed these days, their 5000 series coming with a full 5 year warranty, though some others like Exide i believe are now up to 5 years for their better range, i always opt for the highest capacity battery on offer that my car can accommodate.

Always worth asking at the makers parts desk too, at Toyota their own batteries are usually priced as keenly as the online suppliers quote, but they do charge for fitting if required.

The Bosch battery I purchased last year had a 5 year warranty, too.

If you have a problem under guarantee with an on-line battery store, how do you get it replaced? (without being minus the battery)

Not sure about that Doc, but on another forum i defended Batterymegastore from unfair attack from a poster who obviously had a charging or drain issue because after replacing the first 'faulty' new battery they weren't so keen on doing it a second time within days, the OP in that thread never complained about being without a battery so one can only assume the company had somehow kept him mobile.

I had and have no interest in the company other than as a satisfied customer.

Just out of interest the company (not allowed to defend themselves on that forum, rules innit) sent me a very nice unsolicited PM thanking me for my efforts.

I believe you have to send battery back at your expense ,so they can check it for a fault. That's the problem when buying online.
