Ford fiesta style 2009 - Airbag warning light won't turn off - OceanMan

The airbag malfunction warning light is almost permanently showing in my friends Ford Fiesta. It can be turned off temporarily by moving the seat and spraying wd40 on something underneath. Sorry that it's a vague description, I'm just going on information I've been given second hand.

Is there any inexpensive way to fix this problem? It's been Happening for a couple of years.

Sounds like a faulty connection for the pre tensioner under the seat.

Basically inspect and repair.

OR the pretensioner itself is faulty.

My son has just had this - we suspect it's the connection where the wires enter the unit.
