I'm praying someone will help me here as I am literally hitting my head against a brick wall with Auxillis. When preforming a emergency stop at a roundabout as I had been cut up by another driver. I was hit from behind, low impact, crushed my bumper/damaged light.

Stopped, talked with chap, avoided giving me his details as we agreed what I though was to pay each others repairs (which seems ridicules I know, but I was in shock from the accident and wasn't thinking straight. Turns out he though I was to blame and was demanding I fix his car as well as my own. Went through insurance Admiral, said I was not making a claim but in case the third party tried to claim off me I had dash cam evidence he went into me and I had a reason to stop. Admiral persuaded me to put a claim in saying third party insurance is completely liable. Previously taken car to garage and descused repairs coming in at £350. with bumper from Vauxhall salvage centre.

I agreed, passed straight over to Auxillis. They suggested the garage my car should go to, A.W.repairs. Car taken to Derby I live in Nottingham. Car declared a cat N insurance write off saying price would be £2,658. to repair (vauxhall astra 2008, auto, 54,000 miles. )

Contacted by Acorn Salvage within the same day as written off. Demanded to get my car back as I did not agree he was a write off, they threatened to take hire car away (Auxillis).

Stalemate for a few weeks as I had my dads cancer treatment to take him to and that was priority.

Agreed to write my car off eventually as stress of trying to get him back was too much. But did not agree to price offered £2,238. Stalemate again as Auxillis argued that the price came from an independent engineers report and as such couldn't possibly ask them to revise it. Asked for a SAR as to how my case was being handled and also freedom of information request asking for prof of impartiality from company that valued my car. But agreed to amount offered as I am in dire need of my own car and am very much aware that the hire car is on credit. ( the hire car might I add is a Hyundai ionic 2018, I was not happy when they dropped it off as I had stated a number of times nothing bigger then an Vauxhall astra. I am on a very small income and some disability benefits I would not of my own volition sought out a car that new and big to rent out!!!!!

I sold my car as a end of life to copart scrappage through acorn assessors. Have received a cheque for £300 odd but that has been it so far. Auxillis said that its up to the third parties insurer to agree and that could take months. So now I am at a loss and feel completely screwed over. I sold my car for pittance on the agreement of a largerer amount from Auxillis now which they are saying I may or may not get it. I can not keep the hire car for much longer it has already been 7 weeks!!

Also Auxillis keep saying that they can't view my car cam footage I've sent them in email and in data disc form sent to there address. Everyone else I've sent it to including the police have been able to view it with no problem?

I'm not sure how you can rescue this situation as it seems to have gone too far. The difference between your two 'repair' valuations seems very wide, but I would guess that the insurers' one may be for total return to as-new condition (which for a rear impact may mean use of a jig to straighten a boot floor) while your local quote may be just for fitting a new bumper and a bit of a respray.

In any case, you are not bound to use an insurer's recommended repairer, nor to lose your car in a write-off. You can always 'buy it back' by accepting a smaller payout, then proceed with your local repair. I did that two years ago to my own car.

Only point I can comment on is the valuation on your car which you are disputing. Well over a year ago I sold a 08 Astra 1.8 Design with 40,000 miles and full history retail for £2295. A larger dealer would’ve asked more but these aren’t worth much and the auto in this case devalues it further. You’ve been offered what it’s worth but it does no harm to try for more. Its trade value depending on condition is between £1200-£1500 tops

I have a very good friend who works for Auxillis. As HJ often says this is exactly the sort of racket that makes the UK insurance market so crazy and all our premiums so high. I'd love to know what Auxillis are going to bill the other party's insurer for the cost of your hire car, I can tell you it will far exceed the value of your write off. Auxillis staff comission is all about getting the '''non fault' driver into a credit hire car for which they get paid comission. They don't give two hoots how long it takes the other party's insurer to make a settlement with you, in fact the longer the better to enlarge that bill for the Hyundai you are driving around in.
