Citroen picasso - Citroen picasso revving - frogmarch

Hi my daughter has a Citroen xsara picasso 1600 16 valve engine its done about 100.000 miles and she say that in top gear it feels like it's revving and needs another gear but obviously not got one it has had new plugs and coilpack in the past could it be a stepper motor or throttle body need cleaning or what else thanks

Hi it doesn't feel like clutch it's hard to describe if you put it in top gear and put foot down it does pull ok with no clutch slip it just feels like it needs another gear ?

Find how many mph per 1000 rpm it is supposed to do. (Figures for one version with the 1600 engine suggest about 23 mph per 1000, so would be showing about 3000 rpm at 70 mph.)

Once you have this piece of information (which your friendly Citroen dealer should be able to tell you) simply take it to a suitable road and check rpm / mph. If different, have the wheel and tyres been changed from the factory sizes?

One of the omissions from the Xsara Picasso is a rev counter....

If it wasn't doing it before, then something has changed and the clutch is the obvious candidate - although perhaps it is just a noisy wheel bearing which only becomes apparent at higher speeds, and therefore appears to be top gear.
