Astra 1.6 twinport - Amber oil light next to car lights - Rich212121

Hi

Only recently my car oil keeps coming on not the Red one the amber one with the zig zags underneath.

It seems to come on after around 3 miles so not sure if it's when the car gets to a temperature.

The car still performs which is fine the same when the light is on or off.

The car is 56 plate and done 98k miles

Any clue to help me

The yellow oil light is for low level of oil, the red oil light is for low oil pressure.
I suggest you check your oil level via the dipstick ASAP

Sign with zig zags underneath is usually and ABS or ESP light.... can you identify it from here:

I have top the oil up as before but still there. It's correct I'm the dip stick

Well there is not actually an amber section, only red, yellow, green, blue and white.

So lets assume its the yellow one.

9th row, 3rd in is the light that tells you the glow plugs are heating, its a zig zag line over the glow plug symbol. Since yours is a petrol it will not have this light.

But on your link there is a decription of what the light means. Suggest you look again at the car, look on your link and get back to us with a more sensible suggestion.

It's the 9 row down on the yellow section 3rd one across

The display reorders the pictures depending on the screen settings you are using. The OP means the yellow one with the oil can and squiggly lines, I presume.

That probably makes sense.

So I wonder, has the OP actually checked the oil yet (as the warning light suggests he should) or are they still waiting for a catastrophic failure.

The yellow light is for low oil level & the red for low oil pressure.

You just need to check the oil dipstick when the car is on level ground.

If the level shows near the high mark on the dipstick & the yellow light is still on you probably have a faulty oil level sensor & will need to get it changed.

The warning light you have confirmed is on has nothing to do with oil pressure, its the oil level. So either the level is low or there is a fault with the sensor/wiring/ecu/dash etc. We cannot second guess on here, the car needs a diagnostic check (if the oil level is OK).
