Sorry but I can't help this,

It's "pointless" trying to clean HT parts,

fit a new cap rotor and leads.

And for all you younglings out there it's electronic ignition so there are no points!!

Could be amplifier on side of distributor held on with two screws-probably simplest is a used distributor from breaker.

If you have a spark at the ignition coil lead then the ignition module won't be the problem. If there's no spark at the spark plugs the most likely cause is a faulty rotor arm. The spark will be tracking through it directly to earth. Change the distributor cap and rotor arm together.

thank you,ive ordered a distributor cap ,but cannot seem to find a rotar arm thats for my car off ebay, ive looked at a few and messaged the sellers but they say should fit not will, the problem is the engine was out of a fiesta and the car a escort, so no use giving reg number., ill keep looking.

If this is a 1.3 Cvh engine, then the cap and rotor arm will be the same for either Fiesta or Escort with a Bosch dizzy. Take a look at your rotor arm,if it an original Bosch part,it will have a part # stamped on the body..

it says will not fit a 1.3 engine only a 1.1, is there a difference

The 1.1 and 1.3 ohv (valencia /kent engine)are basically the same .motor-car.net/ford-engines/item/16095-kent-valenci...e

thank you ,so you think the rotar cap will fit

put new cap on no spark still, tried to get rotar arm off its seems to be stuck, so borrowed a mates multimeter put it in the centre of the rotar after cleaning and the end where it touches the sparl plug terminals no reading,, so how do u get the rotar arm off,i thought they were a push fit,

fiesta /escort - no spark at plugs - Galaxy

They are a push fit. Sometimes, if the rotor arm hasn't been removed for a long time, it can "corrode" onto the distributor shaft but I've always managed to get them off eventually.

You just need to pull a bit harder!

Do remember that the ignition leads are resistive to reduce RF interference, or, at least, they should be. If you're trying to test them with a multimeter they will have a fairly high resistance.

On some Bosch dizzys ,the rotor arm was glued onto the shaft ,out the factory. You may well have to break off the old rotor. Also ,a Bosch rotor very often has a resistor built into the top of the arm, between the centre and tip.If the meter you are using is not set to read the correct resistance range,it will show no continuity.

that must be why its not reading, i cleaned the rotar up with fine paper put new cap back on and its running, thank you all for advive mich appreciated, I should have known as youse to mess with cars a bit when younger but now at 70 you forget how things use to work, not messed with ignition systems for ages must be 30 odd years since id seen the inside off a distributor,Thank you all again.
