hi,my, citreon c3 1.4 8v 2007 started flashing up silly errors on the dash ,it then after a few weeks went into limp mode and flashed low oil ,i took it to a garage he said wiring loom and ecu is faulty.i sent the ecu away and was told thats there nothing wrong with it.so i got a auto elect guy to repair the loom in the engine bay. the car started and rev up but the oil light was flashing. i went to it yesterday and it wont crank over ,the auto guy said it the ecu.would stop the engine turn over if the ecu was faulty.the battery and starter are ok.any advise please.many thanks ray.

Before you start getting involved with the technical bits,I suggest you establish whether the engine will turn over by hand.Get a spanner or socket on the crankshaft pulley bolt and see if the engine rotated.Don’t like the sound of this low oil pressure warning.

Agreeing with the "Doc",

Thing that concerns me is my wiring diagrams for this vehicle indicate no ECU function controlling the starter!

Granted it's not a genuine Cit diagram but even so.

Might be there an interupt system for low oil pressure but that would only activate after the engine had spun up and registered low pressure.

In this situation I'd check the starter control relay.

hi ,thanks for the replies the engine turns over with a spanner on the crank. ,is there a starter relay if so do you know where is it. the fuse for the starter is live ,its in the engine bay. ray.

Sorry can't help with relay position,

if fitted.

Check the cars manual if you have one.

And get the battery "LOAD" tested.

A lot of seemingly random electrical faults can be down to a shot battery.

If it has a starter relay,it will be inside the engine bay fuse/relay box.I would check earth points from battery to chassis and also onto engine gearbox.Have you tried hot wiring direct to crank wire at starter?

hi i have hot wired the starter and it cranks over no problem. if i have a immobilizer fault how would i know ,i have tried to scan the ecu but it wont get in ,but i can scan the abs .the bsi and the fuse box have power .

Check for power and ground at the ECU/DATA connector.

Agreed as above.If no communication with engine control unit,you have a power/earth supply issue,a wiring fault,or an ecu issue.You will need an accurate wiring diagram to establish where your problem is located.

As the "Doc" suggested get a wiring diagram.

But re-reading your O/P it doesn't look like your autospark did his job right.

If you had the ECU tested/passed it has to be in the wiring.

Try "Emanuals online", for a manual.

They'll sell one for £22.99.

Though you'll probably find it's for every Citroen ever sold,

thanks for your advise.the fuse for the ecu in the engine bay is dead ,with ignition on and off.i would have thought the engine would still turn over from the key with a ecu problem thats why i thought it migh bet a immobilserproblem .thanks again for your help.ray.

Immobies tend to have a dash tell tale.

Can flash red when on and goes of when deactivated.

As for the wiring the fuse has to blow for a reason and given the wierd oil pressure warning I'm for testing the ECU grounds.

Ecu plug "C" terminals 11 12 and M1.

These have to be tested loaded and NOT with a meter.

An indicator bulb and wire is good.

wire to bat + then through the bulb and then touched to the unplugged "C" plug terminals as above.

Bulb should light at full brightness when touched to each plug ground terminal.

i have had another auto elec guy have a look at the car ,he seems to think the fuse board under the bonnet is at fault.can i change the board with anorher unit if the numbers are the same,or will it need to be programmed number on the unit 9661707880 , LO3 ..thanks ray..

I think you can use a s/hand fuse box. You may find some of the added features may not work. Eg auto light and wiper,front fogs,If fitted.
