Any - Disabling parking sensors when towing - kerbed enthusiasm

I have reversing sensors and a towbar fitted to my vehicle. Since these are both aftermarket accessories, the parking sensors beep when I reverse with a trailer or towbar mounted bike rack attached.

I have various options: just pull the power on the parking sensors; fit a switch to the wiring in the boot; run wiring to a switch on the dashboard; fit some sort of relay between the parking sensors and towing electrics.

The final solution is preferable but I'm not sure where to get one or how to wire it so that the sensors are disabled when a trailer with a simple trailer board is hooked up.

Anyone have any ideas?

Your last possibility sounds like a good idea.Inhibit the operation of the sensors when reverse is selected by the use of a relay. It would then be possible to use a switch to turn the circuit off and revert to normal function.Easily done by any good sparky in less than an hour.

If you look on a popular auction website you will see that you can buy 7 pin sockets with fog lamp cut out switches as part of the socket. That should do exactly what you want.
