Strange noise on '10 caddy - badbusdriver

I have owned my 2010 VW caddy SDI since December and am happy enough with it. But there has been a few times, after i have stopped the engine, and there is a noise that i can best describe as sounding like something being 'pumped up'. It will do it maybe 10 or 12 times rapidly in succession then stop. This does not happen every time, and only ever happens after a short run, of which as a window cleaner i do a lot of. Any idea's what this might be and should i be concerned about it?

Hi

My works Transit van does the same thing occasionally after turning the engine off. Certainly does it when the engine is hot. Don't know if it does it when the engine is cold.

Sounds like a fast pumping action, would say it maybe does it about 6 times in quick succession.

My current 15 plate Transit with DPF does it and so did the previous 61 plate without DPF (Both 2.2 turbo diesel).

No idea what it is, but would say it's normal and nothing to worry about.
