V70 T5 petrol - Cold start problem - speedycar53

Engine missing, stuttering and smell of unspent fuel in exhaust when starting from cold especially when damp. Settles down after a minute or two and then runs fine. I have tried Redex fuel system cleaning additive but no improvement. The car is 15 years old with 95K miles on the clock.

Suggestions please.

15 years old but it still as a cold start system,

And that includes a coolant temperature sensor

Said sensors resistancs decreases as coolant temmp rises.

At a guess yours is faulty.

I’ll second that.Get the temp sensor actual value tested against real engine temp via the diagnostic system.

Try a new set of spark plugs, especially if they're more than a year old. Make sure they're the right ones, as specified by the manufacturer, and correctly gapped. Don't just assume that the old ones are right. Also check for moisture and poor connections where the ignition coils meet the plugs.
