What FB said, get someone with some nous on tap to do real maintenance jobs like this, cos they will not be done at the dealer.
Few, if any maker's dealers service brakes correctly, at one time it used to be a full brake strip clean inspect and lube up every other service (so at each major) with Toyota they certainly did the required work on our Hilux, that was around 2009, i no longer know if this is the case, hopefully someone could update this.
My daughter's Civics (2004 models) 2.0 litre type S, both of them the parking brake worked on the rear calipers, not sure what her 18 month old type R is like i haven't laid hands on it and to be honest have no wish to, if anything like the service its been getting from the local Honda dealer whatever system the rear brakes are its more than likely they won't have been touched, my son (her brother) had to take the car back in for her (she working away) because they left the brakes poorly bled (some recall work) and tried to fob him off that pumping the brakes to make them work was normal!, they know different now....his own Honda goes to another maind dealer which couldn't be more different.
As FB mentions, the drum inside disc design is a superior and much more expensive system, it rarely gives any bother at all.
