Expecting a post next week or so complaining about a boiled battery!
From less than an amp?
The two commercial ones I've bought claimed 1.5 amps and were unregulated, though since they were probably lying and didn't work for very long anyway I suppose that's a moot point.
If it happens its more likely I'll be primarily complaining about cheapo Chinese solar regulators, since I'll probably get one.
Anyone have any experience of them?
I had given to me a solar charger but its output depending on sun being out gives around 1.5 amp but can drop in cloudy weather to 100milli amps(blue light on it flashes if charging and works) but there is nothing in the way of controls for it and supplied originaly by the AA not sure who made it? though may take apart and look later.
It does work well as fil used it for several years after getting flat battery twice in 3 months on a 54 plate Yaris, so I looked them up and spoke to several people who owned classic cars who said this solar charger worked well, so we tried one, no complaints so far
A neighbour bought one off of ebay and although the indicator lamp said it was charging (so did he) it wasn`t and his battery went flat after one month so he tried to send back but the seller had dissapeared
But no there isn`t that I`m aware any components in them except the chargers that work through the OBDII port they have a diode on them to prevent feedback to the panel otherwise it could blow them...No idea why it should be on that connection and not others apart from possible ECU backfeeding into it?
