BMW 318 - Any advice would be much appreciated - Psb71

I have a 318i bmw on a 07 plate and this morning whilst driving noticed that when driving over any small bumps on the road there was quite a severe clanking sound coming from the passenger side front wheel which has never happened before. I pulled over immediately and noticed the wheels are nearly touching the wheel arches.....might seem like a stupid question as cars and problems are not my forte.....is it likely it is the suspension or could it be something else......unfortunately I have been ripped off several times By different garages since my son moved away as he used to come with me.....any advice would be really appreciated......thank you

Very likely to be a broken road spring.I would be very careful here ,if part of the spring has come out of its fixing,it could damage the tyre.

Sounds like a broken spring. It's a common problem these days.
