Ask them if they've measured the thickness on the discs and pads, and if so, what the measurements are.
A lot of manufacturers these days are putting in automatic replacement of discs and pads at mileages, and while that might be appropriate for some drivers, for others with more mechanical sympathy or gentler use of brakes it's just additional expense.
As an example, my BMW's onboard systems recommend front brake pad renewal at 30k miles. When the car was in for a service about then, they asked if I wanted it doing. I replied that I wanted to know the condition of the pads before I had them replaced.
When I collected the car that evening, they had put another 20k on the mileage until next check, as pads were still in good condition.
