I hired and paid in advance for an Astra through a broker (Car Labs) in early March for a bargain price - 47 euros for 11 days pick up from the airport in Spain, full to full fuel policy.
Yesterday, I received a phone call from Car Labs saying they were unable to provide the car due to a problem with the car hire company. Fair enough, it happens. The alternative car was off airport, a Seat Ibiza with fuel policy full to full. Car Labs told me they would change the cost of the car to 23 euros and the other 24 euros would be taken by the car hire company to pay for the fuel.
On checking the voucher it became clear the 24 euros was deposit for the fuel and a payment would be required for the actual fuel at car hire company prices.
So to summerise I will be getting a smaller car and paying more for the privilege.
After exchanging emails with Car Labs, I am adamant that I am not going to accept the change and I can't find anywhere in the T's & C's where it states Car Labs can downgrade the car and fuel policy just because their supplier wants more money - it's not my problem.
My question is, in the UK we have the BVRLA, so is there an EU equivalent that I can complain to?
Thanks in advance
