Mazda 6 TS2 2008 - Boot /tailgate opens / unlocks on its own - djd18

Just purchased privatly. When I first got car i opened tailgate boot by button on tailgate which operated correctly. Next day button would not open boot and had to open by key fob. Then would open by intermittently on button.

CONTINUED. Then would unlock intermittently on button. Seller stated that he never ever used button but used key fob.Now boot unlocks on its own even when driving and parked with alarm off. I have disconnected cables to button, it does not open on its own now.Can open from keyfob. Button looks perfectly ok but would it definitely be defective button/ switch. It is situated at end of brake light lens strip.THANK YOU
