Hyundai ix35 - Please help! Hyundai whining - rooba63

Just driven my 2010 ix35 Premium 2.0 tdci with media unit. The radio suddenly died after giving a beep. There followed a loud whine like the old TV testcard which hasn't stopped, even with the radio and engine off.

It's currently in a city centre multi-storey car park and people are actually looking around to see where the noise is coming from!

I don't have to drive it for another few hours. If it's still whining, any idea what it is, and how to stop it? I don't have any tools with me so can't really do anything too technical at the moment.

Is there a fuse you can pull to stop power to the radio.I suspect a valve has failed on the wireless circuit board.

Thanks. Will see if I can borrow a spanner from someone and disconnect the battery for a minute or two. Simply can't drive with the dreadful high-pitched whine. Worse than having mother-in-law in car!

Went back six hours later and it was still merrily whining away. Had to phone Greenflag, and guy disconnected battery for a couple of minutes. Sound gone and radio restored. I've never known anything like this before. So very, very annoying.
