Got a mk5 diesel astra, brakes keep sticking, had new calipers all round, new pads and discs and a new master cylinder, bled loads of times but now and again they start to seize on,if I turn off the engine and pump the brake pedal a few times it cures the problem and I van drive maybe 30 miles before it does it again, driving me crazy now, any ideas????

You don't state the age of the vehicle.

Many years ago I experienced an Austin Maxi that had this problem, the servo had corroded and shrunk such that the internal operating rod was effectively longer.

The cure was to adjust the rod to specification.

Found the problem by removing the servo pipe and sealing it. You have to be careful as you're then driving without any braking assistance. The pipe needs to be sealed as otherwise the engine will run with a very weak mixture.

It's a diesel 1.7 cdti early 2005, you didn't have to change the servo then?

No, the rod had a threaded section that could be adjusted. I don't know if yours would be the same.

Please read my previous reply as to how it was diagnosed.
