Mercedes-Benz C-Class C200 (1999) - wheel bearings - misterbee

The wheel bearings front passenger side are worn. Daft question but would i be right in thinking that a like for like HUB replacement, as opposed to tinkering with bearing kits, wourd sort out the issue , in as much that the bearings , i presume, are pre-installed in all new HUBS, ,regards , Brian

Should be good old fashioned taper roller bearings in that car, usually last forever if you repack them with grease every few years.

Spin the wheel up and check for noise from the bearing, dependingon this you might find that if you remove the dust cover and undo the rather clever locking adjuster nut that you can pop the outer bearing out and inspect it leaving everything else in place, if it looks good and no undue noises from the inner bearing, a fresh batch of grease pushed down the shaft for the inner and the outer regreased, reassembled and adjusted up properly will see you back to all good.

You will find that a new bearing if needed is cheap and easily fitted, a new hub is likely to be surprsingly expensive.
