2003 Audi A4 Avant TDi B6 - Random Alarm - Flat Battery Diagnostic Socket - A3 A4

Over the last month or so the alarm my A4 Avant has been going off randomly, even to the point that it sometimes won't switch off. It seemed to cure itself, about a month ago.

This morning the car had all its indicators going and a flat battery (18 months old) I'm guessing the alarm was triggered and as its not that noisey we didn't hear it.

As its damp this morning I'm guessing this has something to do with it. Does anyone know of any common faults where I may look first?

I have a cheap generic diagnostic scanner, anyone know where the socket is? This may give me a clue?

The 'fix' at the moment is not to lock the car!

These suffer with a few issues.It could be a fault with the siren causing this problem.Best to disconnect it.Should be located in the right rear wing,below lamp unit.The other problem these have,is water ingress into the body control module,located under the carpet/underlay below passenger front footwell.The obd socketis located in the footwell trim ,just above the accelerator pedal.It is unlikely your happy shopper scanner will display any related faults(if it works at all)

Is the alarm/siren all in one? Would disconnecting it cause other problems ie would the indicators still flash and the central locking work as normal?

Will check the footwell, would it be the case that the chamber where the battery sits would be full of water?

Your cheap diagnostic scanner is probably only good for EOBD emission data and codes, and is not likely to work for what you want it to do. Search the VAG forums for someone near you with VCDS. Click on the link below for an owners map.
