Left front, side and rear indicators have stopped working. Have been told its the ecu? Are the indicators controlled by the ecu and if so does anyone know if a re wire using a flasher unit is possible as I dont want the cost of changing the ecu etc etc? Thanks in advance

It's not the "ECU",

To avoid confusion the part your worried about is called the BSI,

short for body systems inerface.

just about everything electrical runs through it or is controlled by it.

And it's coded to the car so no scrappy part would work.

1st thig to do is get the bsi code read to make sure it IS faulty and not a switch.

and if it is the bsi they are repairable.

1st name that springs to mindis BBAREMAN.

goole them.

Is the indicator stalk floppy, does it over cancel?

If so then it probably needs refurbing. Its a common fail part on the 307 over time / mileage / usage.

That part is called the COMM2000 unit and costs around £29 to repair. Have a look for a West Yorkshire ebayer who repairs them (type COMM2000 into the search box). He's highly recommended.

Stalk is certainly not floppy ... on the car that is :-/

Thanks for the quick reply. I have changed the BSI (located under the main engine fuse board) and having consulted an auto electrican I was assured that it is not coded one so it was a case of installing, plug and play so to speak. Switches are all okay. Fuses are all okay. Earthing is good. Only thing I can think of if if the BSI which I obtained was bust too :-(

The Bsi is in the cabin, behind the glove box.

Hmmmm thats quite onfusing as under the main engine fuseboard there is a printed circuit board and was informed by the auto electrician that that was the BSI. I will have a look behind glove box though cheers for that. any ideas how easy it would be to bypass the BSI with the indicators and rewire them to there own flasher?

peugeot 307 hdi - indicators - elekie&a/c doctor

Bypass of the bsi to make the indicators work is not at all easy or practical. You would need a different switch and flasher unit and all relevent wiring, and don't forget the hazard lights will need to work correctly also .

Thing you changed is not the bsi,

that was the PSF1 or the power systems fuse box,

and your spark was right about one thing,

the PSF1 isn't coded.

the PSF1 does feed power to the BSI,

but your BSI is powered just not sending the correct signal to the right systems.

Get it global scanned by Citroen diagnostics.

I agree. Google "Peugeot BSI" and "Peugeot ECU" and "Peugeot fuse box" to see examples of each.

The auto electrican you're dealing with doesn't know what he's talking about, and you can't just swap them out.

Google "Peugeot Planet Map" to find someone local with Peugeot Planet diagnostic equipment.
